Through My Journey in Selangor Matriculation College

5th of June, after 6 months of break, I've finally step into the journey of college. I'm currently studying in Selangor Matriculation College (Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor - KMS), which is located at Banting, Selangor. Though the college is placed somewhere like kampung area, but when you enter the college you will be quite fascinated with the size of its compound. Legit HUGE.

And this is just part of it.

Trust me, it wasn't my first choice of coming here but I don't seem to have any better offers. So okay why not, rather than spending a fortune to study at private for foundation, here at least I can save up a lot for other purposes in the future.

Back to the topic, when I first stepped into the college, I was super excited. The amount of people who came for the registration (including their family members) are uncountable, but thankfully the college did a very good job on planning out the registration process systematically so it didn't take me long to finish up registration. So after that I checked in into my hostel and this is it:

4 beds in a room, so this is the corner I picked for my own.
Hostel environment is not that bad to be said, and it's quite clean and comfortable to stay in though the weather here is very hot, hahaha.
Here we have a study room, a living room on the ground floor. Pantry rooms and washrooms are loacated on each floor. Each student is given a bed, a locker, a study table and book rack in their room.

So this is my roommate. She's in Module 3, taking Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Maths. We get along with each other very well since the first day we met. She's a very friendly and cheerful person. We both always annoy each other, help each other with homeworks, share food together, and share stories with each other. I am so grateful to have her as my roommate, she's like a twin sister to me.

My previous practicum classmates in SM1K3P7✌

After all the cleaning and unpacking in the hostel, we had orientation for 3 days (supposed to be 5 days but since it's puasa period so they shorten it, lucky). Most of it were briefings regarding the college, and we had a few slots of group interactions with our practicum group. I was in practicum SM1K3P7, which is in module 1 whereby our core subjects are Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Math. After the first week done with orientations we had assimilation week whereby we were given introductions to all our subjects.

Day before raya break, we had Iftar Perdana event, whereby everyone gets free food for buka puasa, yay! We non-muslims were asked to be volunteers to distribute free food to everyone according to our hostel blocks. It was a very fun experience when we worked together to prepare and distribute the food and enjoy our last day before raya break.

After the raya break, I successfully changed my module to module 2 whereby the core subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Maths. So I was changed to practicum SM2K1P6.It was sad to leave my previous classmates but I just really don't prefer to be in module 1. By comparing both modules, I really prefer module 2 as the amount of burdens are lessen since there's no more Biology and Science Computer is soooo much more easier. Then reality of college life has started... basically everyday is about homeworks. Quiz are held almost every 2 weeks, and we have certain amount assignment to be done for assessment purpose. As what they called our Matriculation program is a fast track program, we indeed feel like there's always not enough time for us to study or even complete our homeworks. Here lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions for each subjects. Lecturers especially tutorial lecturers are very nice, and they are very concern about our progression in studies.

Classmates of SM2K1P6 on Raya Celeb. Day!!๐Ÿ˜Š
Few weeks ago, our college held Riang Ria Aidilfitri (some sort of Raya Celebration). Each practicum were supposed to prepare some food and our practicum prepared cocktail and some kuih-muih, quite simple, cause it was kinda last minute when we were informed. College gave us free food again (yay!).  So finally on that day my practicum decided to take a new class picture with new classmates.
On that day as well I visited my previous practicum group's booth and had a catch up with them and took pictures together, I missed them so much though we only had 3 weeks to be in the same class together.

Apart from studies, in my college they have variety of facilities. They have a very big track field. Recently we had Larian KAKOM and SEA Games Torch Run at our college's track field.

Cycling๐Ÿ˜‹
Apart from that, our college has a squash court, a gymnasium, volleyball court, tennis court, basketball court a multipurpose hall, a jamming room etc. They even provide bicycles and allow students to cycle around the college. I've tried out cycling around the college it was really fun and enjoyable especially with friends, but then the only problem is there are only limited bikes available and there are many people borrowing the bikes everyday, so there's only very limited time to play, hahaha.

Well this is basically some highlights of my journey in KMS, I really like it here very much. Lecturers and students here all treat each other like a family, I think that is really essential for all of us who are staying apart from families. Everything here is fine and exciting and hopefully more wonderful journeys to come! Hope you guys like my post and maybe more updates to come soon! Bye๐Ÿ˜
