Me, Myself & I




My name is Ooi Zhen Gie. Known as Zhen by most people. Born on 23rd of June 1999, currently am 18 years old. I’m from Kajang, Selangor. A former student of SMK Convent (M) Kajang, I’m now studying in Selangor Matriculation College in Banting.

I’m an adventurous person. I love to join activities such as camping, backpack traveling, hiking and extreme activities. I love to join outdoor camps to learn survival skills and enjoy the beauty of nature, plus making a lot of new friends. Also, backpack travelling around the world is my dream. Recently I’ve started self-backpack travel domestically and I hope I can travel to each and every corner of the world soon.

My family members consists of 6 people, which are my grandmother, my parents and 2 brothers. My grandmother is currently 84, and she’s been raising me since I was born until now. She’s the backbone to my academic achievements as she never stops reminding me to consistently studying and be hardworking. My dad is currently 49 and my mom is 48 years old and both of them are working in the printing and advertising industrial. They are my moral supports in everything I do. They gave me a lot of freedom of choice to do whatever I want to do and always give me motivations and suggestions to do things better. I have 2 younger brothers, namely Ooi Tru Men (16) and Ooi Zi On (15), they are the happy pills in the family who always cherish the family by making jokes, share fun stories. I can proudly tell everyone that I am very lucky have them as my family members to color my every bits of life.

5th of June, after 6 months of break, I've finally step into the journey of college. I'm currently studying in Selangor Matriculation College (Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor - KMS), which is located at Banting, Selangor. Though the college is placed somewhere like kampung area, but when you enter the college you will be quite fascinated with the size of its compound. Legit HUGE. And this is just part of it. Trust me, it wasn't my first choice of coming here but I don't seem to have any better offers. Self-backpack trip to Penang

Hey guys! Today I'm gonna talk about my very first self-backpack trip to Penang, a very famous travel destination in Malaysia. I bet most of the Malaysians have been there with their relatives and family members but today I'm sharing my past experience of travelling alone bearing my own expenses using my savings. Chew Jetty @ Penang This trip was a 3 days 2 nights trip. So on this backpack trip my friend (my adventure partner) joined in as well. The initial plan was to have 4 people to go together but it ended up only one turned in. So after SPM examination, at the very last minute we decided to make a brave choice of going trip to Penang. We did reservations on our accommodation and tranportation before the trip and thankfully it didn't cost much. On the happening day, we took the midnight bus from TBS sentral to Sungai Nibong Station.
